The Master of Laws (Common Law) (LLM CL) at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, is a one-year, full-time, course-based master's program. Designed for foreign-trained or non-common law trained lawyers, it provides foundational training in Canadian common law, preparing graduates for legal practice in Canada and helping them to meet National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) requirements. The program offers two start dates: May (mandatory for those without common law training) and September (for those with common law background). Students may select from foundational courses and a broad array of upper-year JD and graduate law electives. The curriculum supports not only academic advancement but also career goals by matching NCA requirements and offering extensive career services resources and networking opportunities.
