The Master of Laws in Taxation (LLM Tax) at Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, is a specialized, course-based graduate program designed for lawyers and accountants seeking advanced and technical expertise in Canadian and international tax law. The program requires 30 credits: 6 credits from the mandatory Foundations in Tax Law course, at least 24 elective credits in tax law and policy (up to 4 of which can be for a directed research project or approved courses outside law), with up to 6 elective credits in other law subjects. The program includes an intensive introductory course (July to August) and is typically completed in two academic terms for full-time students. Graduates gain practical skills for specialized tax work in private and public sectors, supported by a broad curriculum spanning corporate, partnership, trust, international, and dispute resolution tax topics.
