The MSc Forestry at the University of British Columbia is a research (thesis) based graduate program designed to provide students with advanced training in research techniques and in-depth knowledge in forestry and related disciplines. Students work closely with leading scientists to carry out focused research projects addressing specific problems in forest science, ecology, management, or policy. The program typically takes 2-3 years to complete, culminating in the successful defense of a master's thesis and completion of at least 30 credits, including a required oral communications course (FRST 544 or equivalent). Additional recommended coursework includes scientific writing and BC forestry context for non-UBC or non-forestry background students. With world-class facilities and a collaborative international cohort, the program is one of the largest and most diverse forestry research hubs in Canada.
