The Master of Design (MDes) at UBC Okanagan is a 12-month, full-time, in-person professional program. It prepares graduates to lead at the intersection of design, engineering, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The curriculum is grounded in human-centered and social-cultural orientation, blending critical design thinking, creative practice, and engineering principles. The program emphasizes advanced capabilities in human-centered design, interdisciplinary collaboration, creative problem solving, and the application of emerging technologies such as AI. Delivered jointly by the School of Engineering, the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies, and the Irving K. Barber Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the MDes is ideal for creatively minded and technically skilled individuals ready to bridge technical and creative domains.
