The MASLA is a post-professional, research-oriented master's degree offered over two years at the University of British Columbia School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. It immerses students with a prior professional degree in landscape architecture or related fields in a focused research environment, supporting independent study and faculty-collaborative research. Students develop a comprehensive thesis, selecting research topics after consultation with potential supervisors. The program curriculum includes core courses in landscape architectural theory, research methods, landscape planning, electives, and a culminating thesis. Graduates do not gain licensure eligibility, but gain advanced research skills and specialization in contemporary or emerging topics related to landscape architecture. Admission is highly competitive and, as of the 2025-26 academic year, no new applications are being accepted.
