The Master of Arts in Children’s Literature (MACL) at the University of British Columbia offers an interdisciplinary education in the study of children's and young adult literature and media. Jointly offered by the School of Information, Department of English Language and Literatures, School of Creative Writing, and Department of Language and Literacy Education, the program addresses the creation, publication, dissemination, and critical analysis of literature for youth. It is unique as the only program of its kind in Canada and the only one globally with such a broad, multidisciplinary perspective. Students engage with multiple schools of literary and educational theory and can pursue a thesis in academic research, creative writing, or a hybrid format. UBC's library houses one of the most extensive collections of children's books in North America. Graduates include award-winning authors, scholars, and industry professionals.
