The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLSc) at UBC's Faculty of Medicine is a specialized undergraduate program focused on integrating advanced theoretical instruction with hands-on laboratory training. The program prepares students for careers in clinical and research laboratory environments, biotechnology, and related biosciences. Established in 1980, the BMLSc curriculum leverages expertise from the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and features upper-year coursework (Years 3 & 4) taught by clinical, academic, and laboratory staff. Optional Co-op placements provide further professional experience, and graduates are equipped for roles in healthcare, research, and industry. The cohort model creates a close-knit student community, and graduates may pursue further studies in medicine, research, or allied health professions.
