The Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Biomedical Engineering at the University of British Columbia is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program offered jointly by the Faculty of Applied Science and the Faculty of Medicine. The program focuses on the application of engineering principles to medicine and biology for healthcare purposes. Students begin with a common first-year that emphasizes both engineering and biomedical concepts, often through the Pre-Biomedical Engineering (PBME) Standardized Timetable. From the second year onward, students take dedicated Biomedical Engineering courses, participate in hands-on labs, studio and design projects, and have access to a co-op program. Graduates are prepared for careers in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and biomedical-related government, consulting, and finance roles.
