The Digital Pedagogies & AI pilot is an innovative specialization within the UBC Faculty of Education’s Bachelor of Education (Secondary) program. Launched in partnership with the Vancouver School Board for the 2025/26 academic year, this option is designed for teacher candidates whose teachable areas are English and/or Social Studies. The program focuses on developing digital competencies and pedagogies to enhance educators’ creative and critical thinking, with embedded training in technologies such as learning management systems, generative artificial intelligence, learning analytics, and assistive tools for inclusion. Rooted in the BC Ministry of Education Digital Literacy guidelines, it emphasizes ethical, responsible technology use, digital citizenship, and seamlessly integrating digital tools into teaching practices.
