The Master of Paediatric Surgery program at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya is designed for medical trainees with at least two years of relevant clinical experience following their basic medical qualification. The program prepares paediatric surgeons to manage surgical conditions from birth to adolescence, covering areas such as gastrointestinal, thoracic, urological, vascular, endocrine, and oncological surgery. The training, divided into two stages (basic and advanced clinical training plus a research component), places a strong emphasis on professionalism, evidence-based practice, leadership, and ethical standards. Graduates are positioned for careers in public and academic sectors, addressing a national shortfall in qualified paediatric surgeons.
