The UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine offers an accelerated, interdisciplinary, non-thesis Master of Science program in Cell Biology and Physiology. Launched in 2025, this 9-month program is designed for graduates interested in strengthening their biomedical science background, either to prepare for further professional, doctoral, or health careers or to enter the biomedical industry. The program emphasizes hands-on experiential learning in translational research laboratories, exposure to a wide range of biomedical disciplines, and professional development. Students receive mentorship from faculty and have opportunities to engage in research across 90 different labs. The curriculum does not require a final thesis but focuses on building research skills and career exploration.
