The program offers two tracks: a clinical track (leading to eligibility for ASHA certification and North Carolina licensure as a speech-language pathologist) and a non-clinical/research track (for those not seeking clinical certification). The clinical track integrates academic coursework with supervised clinical experiences. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates to provide evidence-based clinical services to individuals with a wide variety of communication and swallowing disorders, serving diverse clinical populations. The non-clinical track, requiring extra research experience, is tailored for those interested in research or industry, or for international students whose countries do not require ASHA certification. Both tracks emphasize developing sensitive, skilled practitioners and researchers able to serve multicultural and underserved populations. The clinical program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of ASHA.
