The Master of Public Administration (MPA) at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government is a nationally ranked leadership program designed to prepare students for leadership roles in government and nonprofit organizations. The MPA program can be completed either on-campus (full-time, typically in 2 years) or online (full- or part-time). The curriculum requires a minimum of 45 credit hours, including 30 hours of core courses and 15 hours of electives, with options to concentrate in Local Government, Nonprofit Management, Public Management, Community and Economic Development, and Public Policy. Students must complete a practicum, applied research projects, and a final oral examination, and can also opt for dual degree programs (e.g., MPA/JD, MPA/MCRP).
