The BS in Nutrition Science at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences focuses on studying how food and nutrients affect health and disease prevention. The program provides in-depth education in human nutrition, metabolism, and public health nutrition, and prepares students for careers in nutrition research, the food industry, public policy, and public health. It is also an ideal precursor for graduate programs in medicine, physician assistant studies, dental medicine, physical therapy, chiropractic, sports science and public health. Students benefit from research and independent study opportunities, and an average class size of 12-15. Note: This program does NOT meet Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) credential eligibility; students wishing to become RDNs should enroll in the Dietitian Nutritionist Program.
