The Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology at UC Davis' College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences provides comprehensive training in the biological and natural sciences as applied to animals. Students study core subjects such as evolution, systematics, physiology, and molecular biology, with strong emphasis on hands-on and applied learning—including a mandatory senior practicum. Students are encouraged to approach science as a process to solve societal issues relating to animals in agriculture, urban spaces, and natural systems. The degree prepares graduates for a broad range of careers (e.g., veterinarian, geneticist, wildlife biologist, research scientist) and for further graduate study in animal behavior, veterinary medicine, public health, and genetics. The program features internship and global learning opportunities, as well as extensive faculty-led research options.
