The UC Davis College of Letters and Science offers a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Anthropology. The A.B. program is divided into three emphasis areas: Evolutionary, Sociocultural, and General emphases. The Evolutionary emphasis focuses on archaeological, primate, and biological aspects of anthropology, while the Sociocultural track addresses contemporary societies and cultural processes. The General emphasis allows a blend of both. The B.S. program places additional emphasis on math, science, and biological anthropology. Each track prepares students for a range of careers or further studies—including in human ecology, international relations, public administration, health professions, forensic science, and more. Both tracks encourage hands-on experience through undergraduate research, internships, or study abroad. The minimum number of units required for the Anthropology Bachelor of Arts major is 57; the B.S. requires 99-106 units. Students can also participate in the Honors Program to conduct independent research and write a thesis under faculty mentorship.
