The MS in Computer Science (Scientists and Engineers) at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering is designed for students with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science but with limited background in computer science. This comprehensive two-year, 37-unit program integrates introductory undergraduate preparatory and foundational computer science coursework with all the graduate breadth requirements necessary to satisfy the traditional MS in Computer Science. The curriculum includes a preparatory programming course and foundational courses in operating systems and computer networks/systems, after which students may pursue computer science electives. Students may not change to another program in computer science, though they may take electives in any CS area. The program is eligible for the OPT STEM extension, and may be completed on-campus or online via DEN@Viterbi. No thesis option is available, but directed research (non-thesis) may be requested after the first semester.
