USC Viterbi's MS in Product Development Engineering is a multidisciplinary graduate program jointly offered by the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and the Daniel J. Epstein Industrial and Systems Engineering Departments. The program focuses on equipping students with advanced knowledge essential for new product development, bridging art, management, and especially engineering processes—from ideation and design to production and service. Students develop practical skills in prototyping, modern manufacturing, teamwork, and project management. Two Areas of Specialization are available: Product Development Technology (for future engineers) and Product Development Systems (for future managers). The degree is offered both on campus and online via DEN@Viterbi and is STEM-OPT eligible for international students. Students may select a coursework-only option or choose a thesis or directed research track after the first semester.
