The USC Master of Building Science (MBS) program at the School of Architecture is a leader in architectural technology education, focusing on cutting-edge research, environmental systems, structural innovation, and sustainable design. The curriculum provides a core foundation in building systems, sustainability, and digital methods, with options to specialize further through electives and a major independent research thesis. Students may select either a thesis or non-thesis track. The MBS program prepares graduates for leadership in building technology, research, consulting, or as a pathway to a PhD, with special strengths in façade research, climate-responsive design, and integration of UN Sustainable Development Goals. The program involves multidisciplinary coursework and the possibility for dual degrees or research collaborations across USC. International students may qualify for extended STEM OPT benefits after completion.
