USC Thornton's Master of Music in Keyboard Collaborative Arts is a two-year, 30-unit program founded in 1947, the first of its kind dedicated to collaborative piano. The program emphasizes developing pianists’ collaborative skills across chamber music, song repertoire, and opera, providing rigorous training under world-class faculty. Individual instruction includes collaborative piano, master classes in song interpretation and chamber music, Baroque interpretation, and music history. Students have opportunities to improve in foreign language diction and opera coaching, with required performances and faculty interaction spanning diverse performance areas. Two graduate recitals are required for completion.
