USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work and USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology jointly offer the MSW/MS dual-degree program. The program prepares graduates to assume leadership positions in direct service, administration, policy, and evaluation for organizations serving older adults. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, allowing students to take courses concurrently at both schools. Students can specialize in either Adult Mental Health and Wellness or Social Change and Innovation. The degree requires a total of 77 units (32 from Gerontology, 45 from Social Work), field placements in both disciplines, research methods, and a capstone or integrative seminar. Graduates are equipped to work with older adults and their families across micro, mezzo, and macro social work levels, with many progressing to leadership, research, or doctoral study.
