The USC Gould School of Law Master of Studies in Law (MSL) is a graduate-level program designed for non-lawyers—early-career professionals, recent graduates, and mid-career leaders—seeking foundational knowledge of U.S. law and specialized legal expertise relevant to their careers. The program provides an overview of key legal concepts and practice areas including U.S. civil and criminal law, with academic flexibility for areas of concentration. The MSL is available both on-campus and online. It is not intended to qualify students for legal practice or to take the bar exam. Students may pursue graduate certificates concurrently in fields like business law, entertainment law, compliance, and more at no extra cost.
