The Master of Science in Product Innovation (MSPRIN) at the USC Iovine and Young Academy is designed for advanced students aiming to lead in 21st-century product design and development. The program integrates design, technology, business, and communication—providing expertise in addressing the needs of a technology-driven, global society. Students learn to develop both physical and digital products and experiences, progressing from ideation to prototyping to market launch. The curriculum emphasizes multidisciplinary teamwork, real-world industry engagement, and individualized pathways to specialize in areas like physical product design, digital systems, and cross-platform environments. The Academy's extensive industry partnerships offer unique opportunities for students to solve real innovation challenges with leading organizations. Applicants typically hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in design-related fields (including graphic, industrial, product, fashion, UI/UX), engineering, architecture, or business. Students lacking in design-based skills may be required to complete additional coursework prior to program entry. The degree requires 64 units: 52 units of core coursework and 12 units of electives.
