USC Roski's MFA Design is a five-term, studio-based graduate program focused on cultivating a unique, sustainable contemporary design practice. Participants engage critically with current design issues, theories, and methods, working closely with internationally acclaimed faculty and professionals in the arts, design, history, and curation. The curriculum integrates intensive studio work, cross-disciplinary electives (including options within USC’s top-ranked art, business, communications, and engineering schools), and experiential learning through study tours (including a faculty-guided domestic tour and a two-week international tour to hubs like Berlin, London, Shanghai, Tokyo, or Warsaw). Situated in downtown Los Angeles's Arts District, students benefit from proximity to a vibrant creative community and extensive professional networks. The program emphasizes both creative excellence and critical dialogue, aiming to prepare graduates for leadership roles in contemporary design and related cultural industries.
