The Master of Accounting (MAcc) at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta, is designed for individuals aiming to pursue the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. The program covers the entire CPA Professional Education Program, alongside courses in strategy, negotiation, and project management, and prepares graduates to directly attempt the CPA Common Final Examination (CFE). Courses are delivered in-person at the Edmonton campus in small cohorts to promote collaboration. The curriculum emphasizes technical accounting skills and soft skill development, with extensive use of case studies and guest speakers. Students complete at least 36 units of coursework (including 9 in capstone courses), typically over two four-month summer terms, allowing them to work during the rest of the year. The maximum time to complete the program is six years.
