The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Architecture (Thesis) at McGill University is a research-intensive, 45-credit graduate research program. Students critically engage with diverse research areas within architecture, including built environment history/theory, building technology, climate-responsive design, computational methods, and urban/social issues. The program prepares students for doctoral studies or research-oriented careers and is suitable for those holding an accredited professional architecture degree or students from other disciplines interested in research intersecting with design and architecture. Core requirements include research methods, communication, thesis preparation, and electives, culminating in an original written thesis under close supervision and external evaluation. Entry requires a supervisor's support, minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA, English proficiency, transcripts, references, personal statement, writing sample or portfolio, and a research supervisor agreement. The MSc (Thesis) is not CACB-accredited and does not lead to professional licensure.
