The BS in Applied Mathematics at the University of Rochester, offered by the School of Arts & Sciences, prepares students to apply mathematical theory and computational skills to solve real-world problems in diverse fields. The curriculum covers foundational mathematics (calculus, linear algebra, multidimensional calculus), computer science or physics, core applied mathematics courses (such as probability, numerical analysis, topology or complex variables), and advanced electives with substantial mathematical content. An upper level writing requirement is also part of the program. Graduates are prepared for careers in data science, finance, engineering, or further study in quantitative graduate programs.
