The EdM in Elementary Education at Boston University's Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is a professional master’s program designed for individuals holding liberal arts or professional undergraduate degrees who seek to become licensed elementary teachers (grades 1–6). The curriculum combines evidence-based pedagogical coursework and extensive field experiences, including a pre-practicum and a full-time student teaching practicum. Students are mentored by experienced faculty and supported through job search and their early teaching career. The program offers options for additional licensure in Special Education or TESOL and is committed to culturally responsive, inclusive, and social-justice-focused teaching. Course content integrates curriculum methods, foundations of teaching, reading and language development, mathematics, special education, and teaching English language learners.
