The EdM in Mathematics Education at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is designed for practicing mathematics teachers and those holding an initial teaching license who wish to deepen their expertise. The program emphasizes advanced study in mathematics education research, curricula, methodologies, and equity in mathematics classrooms. It is highly flexible, allowing for full-time completion in one year or part-time study, and does not lead to initial licensure—making it ideal for those already licensed or not seeking licensure. Students customize coursework based on their interests, selecting from topics such as mathematical reasoning, equitable pedagogies in STEM, professional development in math education, and mathematics for teaching geometry, algebra, and calculus. Start dates are offered in fall, spring, or summer.
