The Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Dental Public Health at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine is a full-time, 24-month program designed to prepare dentists for leadership roles in academia, government health departments, community health programs, and health maintenance organizations. The curriculum includes in-depth training in epidemiology, biostatistics, healthcare management and finance, social and cultural determinants of health, preventive dentistry, and health education. Students engage in coursework at both the dental school and School of Public Health, gain practical experience through a required public health field project, conduct two research projects (including a master's thesis), and have opportunities to publish in professional journals. The program aims to meet the American Board of Dental Public Health (ABDPH) eligibility requirements for certification.
