The Two-Year LLM at Boston University School of Law is designed for international students and lawyers who seek mastery in U.S. law and advanced specialization in American Law, Intellectual Property, Banking and Financial Law, or Tax Law. The first year develops legal English, writing, research, advocacy, and orientation to the American legal system; the second year focuses on advanced coursework in the chosen specialization. The program provides deep immersion in legal analysis, skills development, and opportunities for hands-on training, networking, internships, and practical legal experiences. Students complete at least 25 credits in the first year and 24 in the second (49 total), with up to 20 courses. There is no thesis, but major research papers are typical. Graduates are equipped for U.S. bar eligibility (state-dependent) and specialized legal careers.
