This master’s programme, jointly offered by Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University, equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to work as a biostatistician or data scientist. Students receive interdisciplinary training in statistics, computational science, and programming applied to medical, biological, and public health challenges. The curriculum covers rigorous foundational statistics, probability theory, statistical inference, statistical modeling with biomedical data, machine learning, statistical learning, and analytical methods vital to modern medical research. Students explore human biology, genetics, and the multidisciplinary nature of medical research. The second year addresses complex issues such as missing data, correlated data, Bayesian inference, and advanced study design for clinical trials and observational studies. The programme culminates with an independent research degree project.
