Karolinska Institutet’s Psychology Programme is the only one in Sweden with a strong base in the medical sciences. This five-year integrated degree prepares students for research or professional careers in psychology. The bachelor’s segment covers foundational psychology courses and integrates medical and biological sciences, transitioning to specialized and clinical topics in later years. The programme is adapted to the Bologna Process: the first three years cover undergraduate (Bachelor) study, leading to the Bachelor’s degree, and the final two years continue at the Master’s level. Instruction is primarily in Swedish, but some course options are available in English for exchange students. Admission for exchange students requires nomination from a partner university and final acceptance from KI. Curriculum includes courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Basic Biology, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Processes, Social Psychology, Differential Psychology, Development Psychology, Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Preclinical Integration, Scientific Theory, Human Society, Occupational and Organisational Psychology, Statistics & Methodology, Psychology in Practice, Personal Therapy, Psychological Treatment Methods, and Degree Projects.
