The Karolinska Institutet does not offer a standalone 'Bachelor of Medicine' in English. Instead, the main English-taught undergraduate program is the Bachelor's Programme in Biomedicine. The curriculum incorporates key areas of human physiology and pharmacology, with core modules like 'Physiology' (13 credits) and 'Pharmacology and Toxicology' (10 credits) in the second academic year. The program provides an integrated understanding of physiological and pharmacological functions in health and disease, as well as strong research training in translational medicine. Graduates are prepared for advanced master’s programs, research careers, and roles in life science industries. Courses are full-time and require substantial laboratory and theoretical work. The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is heavily involved in teaching these core subjects within the Biomedicine program.
