Candler School of Theology (Emory University) and Rollins School of Public Health jointly offer the MDiv/MPH dual degree program. This integrative curriculum trains students in both ministry/theology and public health, preparing graduates to address the personal, communal, social, and institutional dimensions of health. The program brings together faith and health sciences, enabling graduates to analyze how religion and spirituality promote or inhibit health in persons and communities, and how religion and health intersect with public policy and institutional practice. Students complete their first and final two years with Candler (theology) and their second year with Rollins (public health). The MPH degree may be pursued in concentrations such as Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences; Environmental Health; Epidemiology; Global Epidemiology; or Health Policy & Management. Minimum requirements include 72 hours at Candler and at least 32 hours at Rollins, with the possibility to adapt contextual education for the MPH practicum requirement. This dual degree program is designed to be finished in 4 years—one year less than taking the degrees separately.
