The BA in Ancient Mediterranean Studies at Emory College of Arts and Sciences is an interdisciplinary program focused on the interconnected cultures, artifacts, and ideas of the ancient Mediterranean world including the Near East, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Students work with an advisor to develop a focused program of study, drawing on courses taught by faculty across seven departments. The curriculum includes two core introductory courses, two semesters of an ancient Mediterranean language, additional electives from at least three different departments (minimum three at the 300 level or above), and a senior research thesis. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary research, study abroad opportunities (such as archaeological fieldwork in Israel, Turkey, Greece, and Italy), and the legacies of ancient cultures in the humanities.
