The Master of Education (MEd) – School Counselling program at the University of Calgary is a flexible, course-based, professional graduate degree designed to prepare teachers for roles as school counsellors or to enhance their understanding of student development and wellbeing. The program is grounded in research, emphasizes strong working alliance skills, and considers the ethical, social equity, diversity, and Indigenous perspectives central to educational and counselling practice in Canada. Students learn to promote health and wellness in schools and develop knowledge in career and life development for K–12. This program does not serve as direct preparation for registration as a psychologist.
