The MEd in School and Applied Child Psychology at the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary, is a course-based (non-thesis) graduate program designed for individuals intending to work as school psychologists. The program blends online and face-to-face coursework with on-campus meeting times, and is structured to meet professional standards including those set by the National Association of School Psychologists. The curriculum includes 17 half-courses covering core areas like psychological foundations, assessment, intervention, consultation, and research methods. Students complete extensive fieldwork, with a 1200-hour internship in school and/or community settings to develop applied skills. The program is modeled to prepare graduates for eventual professional credentialing in school psychology.
