Brown University's accredited two-year, on-campus master of science in medical physics (Sc.M.) prepares students for competitive medical physics residencies. Housed in the Warren Alpert Medical School, the program combines rigorous curriculum, clinical rotations, and research training led by faculty in radiation oncology. Students gain expertise in imaging, therapy, dosimetry, radiation safety, and informatics, with direct mentorship and extensive hands-on clinical practice. Graduates are prepared to sit the American Board of Radiology Part I exam. The program requires completion of coursework (11 courses), a research project, and a thesis. Admission is open to students with backgrounds in engineering, physics, applied math, computer science, neuroscience, chemistry, or biomedical engineering. A minor in physics, programming competence, and submission of transcripts, three recommendations, personal statement, and CV are required. English proficiency must be demonstrated (TOEFL or IELTS); GRE is not required. The program is CAMPEP–accredited and structured for strong residency and PhD placement outcomes.
