The M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and Policy at UC Riverside prepares graduate students to become leaders, scholars, and practitioners addressing the complex challenges of higher education. The curriculum critically examines sociohistorical and policy contexts of higher education, focusing on access, equity, and diversity across community college through doctorate levels. Students work closely with faculty experts in areas such as critical race theory, student affairs, and educational leadership. The program trains students to meaningfully engage with and change higher education through research, policy analysis, and administrative practice. Coursework covers research methods, higher education finance, governance, policy, college student development, and more. Students complete 36 units (9 courses), culminating in a capstone project integrating their learning. The program prepares graduates for roles in student affairs, academic outreach, admissions, and positions in higher education administration or for further doctoral study.
