The Global Business, Finance & Society (GBFS) concentration is part of the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service. This concentration equips students to deeply understand the metrics, motivations, and viewpoints of the private sector, and how business, government, and civil society interact. Students take foundational and elective courses that develop technical skills and cross-sectoral fluency, preparing them for roles at the intersection of public and private sectors in global leadership. Required is an initial course in corporate finance, followed by nine credits of advanced electives, and structured engagement with subfields: Business & Society (social impact, regulation, sustainability, diplomacy), Trade (practical and policy aspects shaping global markets), and Finance (project finance, valuation, emerging markets, etc.). Coursework may include classes from business, law, and international business programs. MSFS graduates enter leadership roles in government, multinational organizations, private corporations, consultancy, and NGOs.
