The MAERES program at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service offers a rigorous, interdisciplinary education in the politics, history, economics, languages, and cultures of the Eurasian, Russian, and East European regions. The curriculum consists of 36 credits, including core courses, two advanced language courses in a regional language (e.g., Russian, Polish, Turkish, Persian, Ukrainian), and electives spanning five disciplines. The program prepares graduates for careers in government, NGOs, international organizations, academia, and the private sector, with a strong emphasis on language skills and region-specific expertise. A joint JD/MA and an accelerated BSFS/MA option are available, and cohort sizes are typically 14–18 students.
