The NM/WHNP program at Georgetown University’s Berkley School of Nursing is a hybrid, distance-based dual master’s program designed to equip advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) to provide comprehensive primary and reproductive healthcare to women throughout the lifespan, including prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care, sexual and gynecologic health, family planning, preconception, and care of newborns up to 1 month. The curriculum is grounded in the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis (care for the whole person), with a robust, scaffolded health equity curriculum focusing on safe, comprehensive, culturally responsive care to diverse populations, including transgender, gender non-binary, and people of all sexual orientations. The curriculum combines asynchronous didactic content, live online class sessions, and in-person clinical intensives (OCIs). Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for both the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) and National Credentialing Corporation (NCC) exams, becoming eligible for certification as CNMs (Certified Nurse-Midwives) and WHNPs (Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners).
