Georgetown University's Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, offered through the College of Arts & Sciences, provides students with advanced proficiency in Spanish while offering broad exposure to Hispanic literature, culture, and linguistics. The curriculum consists of at least 10 courses in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, with additional language study required if a student places below the advanced Spanish level. Emphasis is placed on language mastery, critical writing, cultural understanding, and academic rigor. The program highly encourages and often requires study abroad in Spain or Latin America for a summer, semester, or academic year, allowing students to attain direct cultural and linguistic immersion. Students may also pursue double majors or combine the Spanish major with minors such as Business Administration, or join the International Business, Language, and Culture program. Graduates are equipped for careers in education, government, international business, or further study.
