The International Economics major at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) offers a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum that explores how economic decision-making shapes global society. Students study micro- and macroeconomic theory, international trade and finance, development, data analysis, and econometrics, blending quantitative skills with a liberal arts perspective. The program prepares graduates to analyze complex global economic issues, communicate economic research effectively, and pursue careers in international development, finance, consulting, and public policy or continue to graduate studies. The IECO major includes courses in economic theory, statistics, econometrics, and applied economics, along with a senior seminar that emphasizes independent research and academic writing. Honors are available for students who meet GPA requirements and successfully complete an original thesis.
