The International Political Economy (IPEC) major at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that provides students with rigorous methodological tools and analytical skills to understand the interaction between political and economic forces at local, national, and global levels. The curriculum covers economics, political science, statistics, econometrics, international trade, finance, development, and globalization. Students are trained to combine both quantitative and qualitative approaches to examine policies, trade, finance, development, and the impact of institutions. Graduates are prepared for careers in international organizations, non-profits, the private sector, or for further academic study. The program emphasizes original research and writing, including a major research paper or senior thesis.
