The International Politics (IPOL) major at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service provides an in-depth, comprehensive education in global political affairs, blending theoretical frameworks with real-world analytical skills. Students gain expertise in how states and non-state actors interact, with concentration options in International Law, Institutions and Ethics; International Security; Foreign Policy and Policy Processes; or a Self-Defined focus. The rigorous curriculum includes nine concentration courses (five in a primary area, three electives from other concentrations, and a quantitative methodology course) and emphasizes critical thinking, ethical analysis, and leadership skills for global political engagement. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in academia, government, international organizations, consulting, and diplomacy. Teaching combines contributions from Political Science, History, Philosophy, Sociology, and Regional Studies.
