The Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education at Boston College's Lynch School of Education & Human Development integrates innovative theoretical approaches with hands-on experience in area schools. The program prepares students to teach grades 8–12 in STEM fields or grades 5–12 in humanities (English and History), and graduates become eligible for initial licensure in Massachusetts. Curriculum includes child and adolescent development, classroom assessment, learning strategies, teaching diverse populations, and requires extensive practicum experience guided by both school- and university-based mentors. Students must complete a second major in a content area from the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences.
