The Master's in Comparative Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Humanities is a rigorous, interdisciplinary programme that explores 'culture' in its broadest sense—ranging from art, film, and new media, to popular culture and social movements. The curriculum is anchored in contemporary issues such as globalisation, technology, social and cultural conflicts, and identity formation. It places strong emphasis on critical theory and interdisciplinary approaches from philosophy, posthumanism, decolonial studies, queer studies, comparative literature, and media studies. Students learn to analyse the relationships between cultural phenomena and theory while focusing on the socio-political dimensions of cultural production and analysis. The programme is delivered in English and is set within the research-driven environment of the University Quarter campus.
