This two-year, full-time Research Master's programme in International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam provides critical and constructive engagement with global development debates, issues, and processes in both the Global North and South, with strong emphasis on social and ecological justice. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and covers themes such as inequality, resistance, and social and environmental injustice, while allowing students to build research competency in both qualitative and quantitative methods. Opportunities for extended fieldwork and the creation of a unique academic portfolio (including research, internships, creative work such as documentaries) are integrated. The programme prepares students for careers in academic research, applied research, or research-intensive policy or professional positions and is tailored for those aspiring to pursue a PhD or research roles in international development.
